All-on-4 Dental Implants

After a detailed examination and 3D imaging, your case is digitally planned, and the 4 implants are placed under local anesthesia or sedation. In many cases, a fixed temporary bridge is attached on the same day or within 24–48 hours, so you leave the clinic with functional teeth while the implants integrate with the bone.

While a temporary bridge can often be placed on the same day, the entire process, including healing (osseointegration) and permanent prosthesis placement, typically takes 3-6 months. 

All-on-4 is ideal for patients who are completely or almost completely edentulous and want a fixed alternative to removable dentures, supported by just 4 implants per arch. It is especially suitable for those with moderate bone loss, where tilted implants can often reduce the need for extensive bone grafting, provided overall health and gum condition are well controlled

All-on-4 is specifically designed to maximize existing bone, making it an excellent option for many patients with moderate bone loss who might not be candidates for traditional implants.

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, so you should not feel pain during implant placement. Afterward, most patients experience mild to moderate soreness and swelling for 3–7 days, which is usually well controlled with prescribed medication and cold compresses.

With proper care, All-on-4 implants are designed as a long-term solution, with implant survival rates above 90% even after 10–18 years according to long-term studies. The prosthetic bridge may need repair or replacement after about 10–15 years, especially if it is acrylic, whereas zirconia frameworks often offer greater durability.

Unlike removable dentures that rest on the gums, All-on-4 provides a fixed full-arch restoration anchored by 4 implants, significantly improving chewing efficiency and day-to-day comfort. It also helps preserve jawbone volume, supports facial structure to avoid a “sunken” look, and often reduces the need for extensive bone grafting while delivering a natural-looking smile.

During the first 3–7 days you may have swelling, tenderness, and minor bruising, and you’ll be advised to follow a soft diet and avoid heavy exercise. Long-term success depends on meticulous daily cleaning around the bridge (using interdental brushes, superfloss, or a water flosser) and attending professional check-ups at least 1–2 times per year for maintenance and deep cleaning.

You can usually start eating soft foods within the first 24 hours after surgery, because a temporary fixed bridge is attached to the implants. For the first 4–8 weeks, a soft or semi-soft diet is recommended; once the implants are fully integrated and the final bridge is fitted, you can gradually return to a normal diet following your dentist’s guidance.

Potential risks include infection around the implants, early implant failure in a small percentage of cases, and prosthetic issues, such as chipped teeth or screw loosening. When the procedure is carefully planned and maintained, long-term studies report implant survival rates above 93% and prosthesis survival close to 99%, making complications relatively rare in healthy, well-followed patients.

Maintain excellent oral hygiene with regular brushing, flossing (using specialized tools), and routine professional cleanings and check-ups.

Smokers and patients with systemic conditions such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease can sometimes receive All-on-4, but they have a higher risk of complications like peri-implantitis and implant loss. A thorough medical evaluation and, ideally, reducing or quitting smoking at least 2–4 weeks before and after surgery are strongly recommended to improve healing and long-term success.

All-on-4 dental implant treatments typically range from roughly €2,800 to €6,000 per arch in Turkey, depending on the implant brand, prosthetic design (acrylic vs. porcelain), and whether extra procedures such as extractions or bone grafting are needed.

Prices can also vary significantly between basic and all-inclusive packages, which may include temporary teeth, final restorations, accommodation, and airport transfers. For this reason, publishing a single fixed price for every patient would be misleading.
